After July 15th, 2004, Nebraska’s water management was never the same
Nebraska’s water resources are paramount to our state’s agricultural, industrial, and municipal development. These water resources also create extensive recreational and environmental benefits for the state. Twenty years ago, Nebraska’s water management challenges prompted legislation to pass, LB962, a bill that forever changed Nebraska’s water management. This historic legislation established the necessary partnerships and planning between the Department and NRDs, as well as water users across the state, to face those challenges and transform Nebraska into a model of effective water management.
