Description

Abstract

ESRI Grids 1 meter resolution are created from the ground classified lidar points. The tiles are delivered in 5,000m by 5,000m tiles.

Purpose

The Lidar data combined with the 3d breaklines can be used to produce a highly accurate representation of the earth's surface (x, y and z).

Supplementary Information

Project Projection, Datums and Units Projection - UTM Zone 14 North Horizontal datum - North American Datum of 1983 (NAD83) using the latest adjustment revision (NSRS 2007) Vertical datum - North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD88) using the latest geoid (Geoid03) for converting ellipsoidal heights to orthometric heights Units - meters (to 1cm resolution)

Process step 1

Process description:Using MARS software 1 meter ESRI floatgrid (.flt) files are exported based on the 5000 ft by 5000 ft tile scheme. The ESRI .flt files are converted to ESRI grids using the Arcinfo Workstation floatgrid command. Projection information is added and the ESRI grids are clipped to the tile boundary.

Spatial data quality

Horizontal positional accuracy

Horizontal accuracy is verified in three tests. During boresighting, adjoining flightlines are view in profile and hard edged features are observed and if necessary the flightlines are adjusted for good relative horizontal and vertical fit. The second test for horizontal accuracy is by comparing raw contours from each flightline against adjoining flightlines at specific points. The final test is the vertical LIDAR control report.
Estimated accuracy:.6 meters RMSE
How this value was determined: Horizontal accuracy will meet or exceed 0.6m RMSE (Accuracyr = 1.04m at the 95% confidence level).

Vertical positional accuracy

Survey control points were used to validate the accuracy of the LIDAR surface model after automatic and hand filtering. This surface exceeds the NSSDA vertical accuracy specifications of .185 meters RMSE..
Estimated accuracy:.185 meters RMSE
How this value was determined:Vertical elevation will meet or exceed 0.185m RMSE (Accuracyz = 0.36m at the 95% confidence level)
